Corinda State High School

22 Year 7 students from Corinda State High School were hosted onsite by Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and Shadforth Civil Contractors, at the beginning of Term 4. The students are all part of the Humanities Honours Program and Songbird Oxley was chosen as the focus for the students Liveability Study assessment piece.
Visiting site, the students prepared detailed and probing questions for the development team and Shadforths Civil Contractors to understand more about how the site was planned, with specific questions around the projects zero emission initiative, environmental impact studies, plans for the proposed aged care facility, and the incorporation of future small business operations.
Students also toured the site to gain a firsthand understanding of the sloping terrain and discussed how house designs can be created to complement the land.
Students carry the Humanities Excellence program through Years 8 and 9 and will continue to focus on Songbird Oxley as the primary site for the Liveability Study; a great opportunity for students to see the development come to life from inception, through to a thriving community!
